Small Group Consensus Building Meeting #2
The second small group consensus building meeting for the CR 951 PD&E Study was held on Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the South County Regional Library in Estero, Florida. The workshop agenda included additional information related to the purpose of and need for the project, preliminary travel demand forecasting and preliminary environmental data. A newsletter announcing the workshop was mailed on May 7, 2003 to all persons in the project database. The workshop was advertised in the News-Press & the Naples Daily News on May 15, 2003. Press releases were transmitted to the local media in both Lee and Collier counties on May 15, 2003.
Approximately 34 people attended the meeting. The first portion of the meeting was conducted in an open format style with project information displayed for the public to review. The project information available for review included maps and graphics related to:
- Current and future land use
- Species identification within the project area
- Panther Habitat
- Approved Planned Developments and Development Orders
- Population Statistics
- Preliminary Travel Demand Forecasts
A presentation was made by the project team to provide a detailed explanation of the project information on display. A question and answer period followed the presentation. Representatives from the Lee County DOT, and the Collier County Transportation Division and their consultants were on hand at the meeting to answer questions and discuss the project with the public
The public was provide with comment forms in order to have their opinions recorded as part of the project record. Nine comment forms were received.
